We visited the island twice as a cruise ship destination.  It the largest island in the eastern Caribbean.  Puerto Rico is. US territory and San Juan is the urban hub.  Puerto Rico is exotic and a combined culture of Taino, European, and African.  Old San Juan is said to be very similar to Cuba; and ships have docked here since the 16th century.  The cruise ship docked in Old San Juan.  The port is located on the historic San Juan peninsula.

We toured the Museo de las Americas and viewed the many exhibits about Puerto Rico culture and history.

We saw the El Moro Fort.  This fort is on the northwest point of Pld San Juan.  It was designed to defend the port of San Juan by controlling the entry to the harbor.  In 1961, the US Army officially retired from El Moro.  The fort became a part of the National Park Service to be preserved as Museums.

We shopped in the shops around the cruise port; and gambled in the yellow casino one block from the cruise port.  The casino serve free luncheon meat sandwiches and free drinks.  We had a nice time in San Juan, Puerto Rico!
