Ochos Rios is a town in the parish of St. Ann, on the north coast of Jamaica. Ochos Rios in Spanish means eight rivers. However it only has four rivers: Cave River, Roaring River, Turtle River and Dunn’s River.
We stayed at the ClubHotel RIU in Ochos Rios. The resort is located in Mammee Bay; surrounded by trees and waterfalls. This resort never sleeps. There is entertainment and activities; all day and every day. They have live entertainment, great food and dancing. They have the best beach parties. The casino is alway 100 degrees inside, but this is the only casino where I hit on every machine except for one. I left the casino hot, sweaty and very happy. We snorkeled in the water and lunched on jerk chicken during the day, dined and partied half the night away on the beach.
We toured Dunns River Falls, one of Jamaica’s national treasures and the most popular tourist attraction in Jamaica. It is one of the most beautiful locations on the island. It is an astounding flowing Falls that extends across 600 feet. Dunn’s River is one of the few rivers in the world the flows directly into the Caribbean Sea. It is extremely beautiful and truly like Heaven on Earth.
We shopped at the local craft market, ate fresh beef pies and drank fresh coconut juice from chilled coconuts.
We took the Heritage Beach Horseback Riding Tour. We rode the horses high in the mountains where and stopped for cold local beer. We rode the horses down the mountain, and into the shallow beach water. That an exilerating and once in a lifetime experience!
I love Jamaica!
