For about seven years we vacationed in Montego Bay. The last several visits were cruise ship destinations. Montego Bay is the capital of St. James, and the second largest city in Jamaica. It is a tourist destination, in a watershed; and drained by several rivers. Jamaica is an island nation of the Greater Antilles, located in northwestern Caribbean Sea. It is south of Cuba and West of Dominican Republic. It is the west of Dominican Republic. Jamaica is an island with mountainous terrain and white sand beaches.
It is the third largest island in the Caribbean and home to the Blue Mountains. The population is majority of African descent, with East Indians and Chinese; and German, Mexico, Cuba, French, Russian and Italian immigrants own homes or beachfront property.
Two of my favorite all-inclusive beach resorts are the Sandals and the new Grand Palladium. The Sandals in Montego Bay is located on a private white sand beach. This beach is reef protected and with calm waters. This resort is an adult only luxury resort with delicious food. It is truly a paridise island experience. The food and hospitality is superb! The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton is new and fantastic resort. This resort has seven international restaurants, three buffet restaurants, sports bar, dance club, five pool, one of them being the largest pool on the island, various bars, spa, casino, boutiques, shops and a theatre, which has nightly shows. The show are amazing with live entertainers, steel drum bands, bon fire parties, and fire-eaters. The nightly beach parties serve grilled fish, shrimp, lobsters, and vegetables; and jerked pork and chicken; and other international favorites all prepared with Caribbean herbs and spices. I love the food in Jamaica! There are rum samples everywhere on the island.
Snorkeling is great on the island. The warm turquoise shallow waters are amazingly clear. It is an amazing experience to walk fifty feet into the beach and still be within three or four feet of water. There is lots of reefs, coral and aqualife in shallow water. It is a fantastic snorkeling destination!
