Los Angeles, California

i visited Los Angeles to attend an Annual Blacks in Government Conferences. Hosted in LA Convention and next to the Staple Center.  The Staple Center is a multi purpose sports arena in Downtown Los Angeles, along Figueroa Street.  It is home to the LA Lakers, LA .lippers of the NBA; LA Kings of NHL, and LA Sparks of WNBA.

located next to the Los Angeles Convention It is the second largest city in the United States after Nre York City.  It is the most populous city in the state of California.  It is situated in Southern California, and known for its Mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, large metropolis, and a major center of the American entertainment industry.  It lies in a large coastal basin surrounded on three sides by mountains over 10,000 feet high.  Sometimes referred to as “City of Angeles”, it is a global city with diverse economy in entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine do research.  Los Angeles also includes Hollywood.

We took a Tour of Los Angelos and Hollywood.  This tour included beaches, movie star homes, downtown Walk of Fame. After the tour, we spent the afternoon in the famous Original Hollywood Farmers Market.  This is an outdoor street market located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Ivar Street in the heart of Hollywood.  This market is a community meeting place with a wide range of activities that included live music, artisans selling handmade arts and crafts, book signings by the most celebrated authors in the food world.  There were cooking lessons and various tastings and food samplings.  It was an exciting experience.  I had the best fresh seafood salad and grilled chicken salad in the very exciting environment within the market!

We shopped on Rodeo Drive and at the Beverly Center Shopping Mall.  We visited the Magic Johnson’s TGIF Restaurant in LaDera Heights.  I read about the Roscoe Chicken and Waffles restaurants in Los Angeles, and was very excited about dining at one of these restaurants.  We had great slow cooked soul food.  The waffles were excellent, and went well with everything including:  the smothered chicken, chicken livers, candies yams, mixed cooked greens, baked macaroni and cheese, fish , gizzards; and baked and fried chicken dishes.  The food was outstanding and melted in your mouth.  Everything was prepared like one of your grandmothers0 slow cooked meals.   After our meals, we joined in with the Kareoke Party and had a blast!  Excellent, excellent!
