i have always wanted to travel to Africa and decided to make my dreams a reality.  We took a a fabulous once in a lifetime trip to South Africa and Johannesburg was one of our destinations.  Johannesburg is located in the eastern plateau area of South Africa, known as Highveld, at an elevation of 5,751 feet.

Sandton City,  is an upscale neighborhood, located in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannsburg, South Africa.  The Sandton City Shooping complex is an one of a kind premier fashion and leisure destination.  The area has an energetic hub of Afro-cosmopolitan;  glamorous international shopping with South African flair.  It is in the city’s business center and is the headquarters for many major international companies.  In the  heart of the city is Nelson Mandela Square with a large, six meter sculpture of the country’s first democratically elected president.   There are 93 international shopping stores and boutiques, world-class international restaurants, cafes, and specialty food stores for dining, entertainment experiences including bars, nightclubs and casino.   Local musicians play live music while locals and tourist alike dance and listen to the beautiful sounds in the outdoor concert seating area.  The international boutiques, stores and restaurants and casino played R &B music.

We stayed at the Michelangelo Hotel, a Renaissance-styled hotel, located in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton.  Included in your hotel stay is full access to the spa with a grass-covered sun deck, sauna, and a heated indoor pool.  The bedroom suites had a separate bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, and lounge.  The lounge had a mini bar fully stocked with the top shelf fine liquors, wines, and champagnes from around the world.   Our bedroom suite overlooked Nelson Mandela Square.   This hotel also provided internet access and evening hor d’oeuvres; including wine and cocktails.  This hotel overlooked Nelson Mandela Square, and services included complimentary breakfast.  I will always remember the beautiful dining area in which I was served freshly baked buttered  crossiants, fresh herb butter seared filet mignon, fried eggs  and potatoes and onions.

It  was a superb experience and truly a dream come true!
