Los Cabos is where the desert meets the sea. The southern tip of the Baja peninsula literally joins the Sea of Cortez. We honeymooned at the Westin Los Cabos Villas & Spa. The scenery was simply breathtaking. To the right of us were all types of cactus/prickly plants in various colors; many in bloom naturally planted in the sandy hills of the desert that rise above the Sea of Cortez ; and to the left was the Sea of Cortez. The view of the desert and the sea is breathtakingly beautiful from every direction. Los Cabos is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. It is also one of the hottest places on earth. The temperature ranged between 99 and 112 degrees the entire day 10 days of our trip. The temperature was hot from sun up to sun down. Los Cabos presents two towns with two moods and two styles: Cabo San Lucas and San Jose de Cabo – one a vivacious party town and the other a sophisticated traveler’s haven. The town offers golf, deep sea fishing, water sports, whale watching, and excellent food and drinks.
Los Cabos has the famous rock can Cabos Golden Arch, at the tip od the Baja Peninsula. This rock is also known as Land’s End or El Arco; you can travel from the point of the arch in the water, directly to the South Pole.
We honeymooned at the Westin Los Cabos Resort Spa and Villa, located on the tio of Baja in Los Cabos. This may be the most amazing place that I have ever visited on earth. It is truly where the mountains meet the sea.
We took a luxury sailing and snorkeling cruise. We have enjoyed snorkeling in the shallow clear waters around many of the Caribbean islands swimming along with the small brightly colored tropical fish. It’s like swimming around a giant aquarium seeing everything up close and personal. Snorkling in the Sea of Cortez was on an entirely different level. We suited up and couldn’t wait to jump into the beautiful water of the sea. We didn’t see any fish before jumping off the back of the boat into the water. We we immediately closely surrounded by the ugliest and scariest looking fish. The fish were large, as in the size of my hand and they swam around with a toothly snarl. After aboard I was back on the sail boat I through bread into the water and watched more than a hundred of those ugly fish swimming around my husband.
In addition to the all you could eat lobster dinners and breakfast buffets we ate outdoors in the seaside restaurant of our resort, we ate at Cabo Cantina Restaurant and Sports Bar, La Casa Del Camarin Maro’s Shrimp House and other authentic restaurants. The seafood alway fresh and grilled to perfection over an open flame, and mango margaritas were superb everywhere. The atmosphere was exciting and vivid with wonderful aromas and music.
The is was only trip I have to date ever taken with my husband whereas, we didn’t visit the casino. I am certain it was due to our preoccupation of being on our honeymoon. We both wanted the location to be somewhere we both had never visited and share in new experiences together. My previous images of the desert were from tv, movies, and books. Although my husband on the other hand has transported U.S.mail across the US; we both where in awe of seeing the desert and the sea meet. Is seemed like we were on the absolute edge of the world/continent. I can only compare the feeling to being in Capetown, South Africa. It’s like you are such a tiny intricate part of nature yet directly connected to the Creator at the same time.
i grew up boating with my family as a child around Solomons Island, Oyster Harbor, Eagle Harbor, and the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. I have always felt the closest to God with the asense of calm and clarity when I am near or in water.
There is a universal attraction which naturally draws us to the color blue. There are many beautiful shades of blue throughout the waters and the skies. The color blue is associated with qualities such as calmness, openness, depth and wisdom. In fact Wallace J. Nichols, a marine biologist believes that we all have a “blue mind” – as he puts it,” a mildly meditative state characterized by calm, peacefulness, unity, and a sense of general happiness and satisfaction with life in the moment” – that’s triggered when we are in or near water. Being near water can calm and connect us, increase innovation and insight, and even heal what’s broken”, Nichols writes in Blue mind: The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, more connected, and Better at What You Do, published July 2016. He expertly explains how and why water can heal the mind and body; and help you tap into your most calm and creative state of being.
In nature our spirits connect to the grace of the Spirit. This is the only connection that will comfort, nurture, heal and ultimately satisfy the well being of our spirit. Nature is the majectic background of our lives.
Cabos San Lucus is a must see for nature lovers like us!
