Cancun is on the northeast Corner of the Yucatan Peninsula, in the state of Quintana Roo. Cancun is part of the ancient Mayan civilization and is considered the gateway to El Mundo Maya (The Mayan World). Cancun was built for tourism and has the distinction of being the one Caribbean destination with the infrastructures, modern amenities and service philosophy to rival leisure destinations around the world.
I visited Cancun 6 times. My first vacation in Cancun was with my daughter Linnea. We stayed at the Camino Real Cancun Resort in Punta Cancun about twenty years ago. We snorkeled everyday outside of the resort on the lagoon side. Unfortunately this location suffered from severe coastal erosion and it no longer there.
My last visit was with my husband ten years ago. We stayed at Riu Caribe. This gorgeous resort is a Mayan styled all-inclusive and also my favorite place to stay in Cancun. This resort is overlooking the crystal clear turquoise blue Caribbean waters and has a variety of outstanding international crusines. This resort has everything and more to assure a wonderful vacation experience for all.
We took a sunset lobster and booze dinner cruise on a Pirate Ship to a real Spanish Galleon. There were lIve musicians playing soft Caribbean jazz in the background. The air was full of the wonderful aromas coming from grill. There was chilled wine, beer and champagne to accompany the lovely buffet of perfectly butter glazed lobsters, shrimps, and various other grilled items. The warm tropical breeze, wonderful food and gorgeous sunset was truly one of the most romantic times of my life.
There appeared to be hundreds of timeshare representatives walking the streets at any given time in Cancun offering free gifts and cash to those willing to view timeshare properties. Each day my husband and I received $200 cash, lavish buffets and various gifts as we viewed a different timeshare resort each of the 8 days of our vacation. They were all very nice resorts but here’s the thing: why pay for a vacation resort all year to have access to use to it two weeks out of the years.
