Bahamas

The Bahamas was the first island we began traveling to annually.  The Bahamas consist of more than 700 islands, cays and inlets in the Atlantic Ocean.  It is north of Cuba, Haiti and Dominican Republic; northwest of the Turks and Caicos Islands.  It is southeast of the US state of Florida, and east of the Florida Keys.  The capital is Nassau on the New Providence Island.  Per capita, the Bahamas is one of the richest countries in the Americas, with an economy based on tourism and finance.  The Turks and Caicos Island, are a continuation of the Bahamas.

The Bahamas has beautiful white sand beaches.  The blue waters are shallow, crystal clear with low tides.  It is an excellent location for snorkeling.  We snorkeled in the seven acre Paradise Lagoon, off the Cove Beach.  We also took a snorkeling boat excursion and spent two and a half hours swimming over large colorful coral reefs.

We stayed at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort.  This beautiful facility has water parks, great food, and a casino.  It has the world’s largest open-air marine habitat, and Aquaventure Water Park.  This is a one of a kind 141 acre waterscape.  It has high speed water slides, swimming areas and river rides.

Every visit to the Bahamas was wonderful!
