Antigua and Barbuda

We traveled to Antigua and Barbuda as a cruise ship destination.  It is a twin island country in the Americans, lying between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.  The capital city is St. John; the largest post, and home to the permanent population of the island.  Antigua and Barbuda are low lying islands in the middle of the Leeward Islands; and part of the Lesser Antilles.  This island is nicknamed “Land of 365 Beaches”, and the highest point is Mount Obama.  Slavery was abolished here in 1838; and the island became independent in 1981.  This island is susceptible to hurricanes and tropical storms, with direct hurricane hitting about every seven years on average.  The official language in English.

St. John is the main city in Antigua, a wonderland of beaches, shopping and restaurants.  The beaches are the main attractions of this island.  The cruise ship docked right in St. John’s.

We spent the morning on Runaway Bay.  We snorkeled in the clear blue waters. We had lunch at the Lobster Shack Restaurant on the beach.  We danced to Soca music and had wonderful frozen daiquiris on the beach.  The beach had live music, wifi, chairs, facilities and plenty of restaurants.

We gambled in the King’s Casino.  We had a wonderful time in Antigua and Barbuda!
