Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas lies in the Mohave Desert in Nevada, which explains the subtropical, hot desert climate.  This metropolis was built on gambling, prostitution and other forms of entertainment. Organized crime built the casinos and used them to launder money from drug and racketeering.  This city receives 40 million visitors annually.  It is one of the most popular tourist destinations on earth.  It is the world’s #1 convention city.   It has The Nevada Test Site, where over 100 nuclear bombs were detonated above ground between 1951 and 1963.  This city has more slot machines than hotel rooms.

Gambling has been around for the last five thousand years.  It is serious entertainment and crosses gender, social class and status boundaries.  People of all backgrounds are together for the chance of big fun and a jackpot win.

Las Vegas is a global gourmet Mecca.  The food is always fresh and cheap.  It is one of the world’s greatest eating cities in the world.  There are slots everywhere including restaurant and hotel lobbies, at the airport and even on the street.

We love Las Vegas and have stayed at Circus Circus, Wynn Resort, New York New York, Riviera, New Frontier, Orleans and at a timeshare facility.  Wynn, by far, has the best facility with an excellent Sunday Brunch including champagne and international cuisine.  Despite my husband’s frumpy attitude over the $65.pp buffet, everything was excellent.   My husband calmed down when we saw the buffet selections. This brunch included a fresh juice bar, a full bakery section,; and a carving center with smoked turkey, roast beef, and country ham. There was fresh seafood, wine, cocktails, champagne and so much more.  We had a fabulous afternoon!

We hung out in Old Vegas on Fremont Street.  There was plenty to see on the streets. Folks are dressed up in all types of costumes; and/or little of anything else.

Las Vegas is a 24/7 party and we love it!
